As a member of Oak there are several opportunities for your child to complete homework. Below are some suggestions to help when it comes setting and completing homework.
Reading
For most children this will be the most accessible, we have a library system in Oak where children can take out books at any point. These books can be taken home and read by themselves or to a parent, brother, sister or even nana and granddad. Children in Oak who are confident readers will often like to read by themselves. This is very normal and a part of the children becoming developed readers, however, the books can still be discussed at home and this allows children to discuss text and help with understanding what they have read. A really useful skill to have when in Oak and getting secondary school ready.
Homework Box
New to this year! Oak has an optional homework box. In this box children will find a variety of sheets tasks and challenges. When completed the children can put this homework in a folder (found in Oak classroom) and it will be marked. Children who produce neat homework will be rewarded with Dojos.
Spellings and Times Tables
Both of these a really important aspect of Primary School life. Practicing spellings and times tables will really help your child's development. Spellings are sent home every week and we ask that you check and sign when you have seen your child's score from the previous week.
Active Learn
We still have active learn an online system that links to the topics and subject areas we have been looking at through the week. Games and books will be added to your children's account and they can play on these for homework.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
