As with all previous classes it is expected that children are to read as much as possible. Please ensure when your child reads to you, or another adult, that it is documented in their homework diaries. It is of extra importance that each child is asked about what they have read to develop their reading comprehension skills. As the Year 4 teacher, I aim to hear each child read at least once a week.
In Maple Class, we have a reading challenge running throughout the year. All children are asked to take note of the title of the book they have read and how many they have completed.
Children who reach 10 (Bronze), 20 (Silver), 30 (Gold), 40 (Platinum), and so on, completed books will be rewarded with a certificate, dojos and, for an exceptional amount, a class prize!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
