This year in Willow Class we shall be continuing to use Tapestry, which is an online learning journal helping us to record, track and celebrate all of the children's learning throughout the year.
Tapestry is available for your iPhone, iPad, Android and some Amazon Fire devices allowing you to have up to date information about your child's learning. As well as us leaving pictures and notes, there is the function for you too to contribute to your child's portfolio by replying to comments or even upload pictures yourself showing what your child is getting up to at home. The Early Years Foundation Stage Handbook states that:
'Accurate assessment requires a two-way flow of information between setting(s) and home. A review of a pupil’s achievements should include those demonstrated at home. Assessments which don’t include the parents’ contribution give an incomplete picture of a child’s learning and development.'
It is vitally important to gain insights into the children's achievements outside of school and an important part of our school culture being a small, friendly, family orientated primary school. Even though Willow Class is a mixed aged class, the Year One parents will also be included, as Tapestry allows KS1 assessments to be made.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
