Lincolnshire Wildlife Park
What better way to start the term than with a school trip? We have had a fantastic time at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park where we have seen lots of new and exciting animals and even got the chance to feed the birds ourselves. Some even landed on us! As we went around the park, we extended our learning on the types of animals and their diets. The children displayed their excellent knowledge of carnivores, herbivores and omnivores to the Zoo Keeper.
D&T
We have started our D&T topic by learning all about wheels, axels and axel holders. The children have learnt about how wheels move and were able to display their knowledge by making their own model where the wheels are attached to an axel, axel holder and car frame. Well done Chestnut Class!
Maths
Year 1 have been working hard on understanding the addition sign and what this means. They were able to read sums and add more spots to the ladybirds. They even went on to write their own sums. Super work! Year 2 have also been busy learning more about addition. They have amazed me with their hard work and determination on learning to add and subtract ten to a number.
History
We have continued with our History topic - explorers - and have learnt about who Neil Armstrong is and why he is a significant individual. We also practiced our computing skills by making ourselves into Neil Armstrong!
Anti-bullying Week
Today, we have focused on 'Odd Socks Day'. We discussed what makes a good friend and then looked at our British Values and how we are all able to be different and be respected for this. The children were very sensible in their discussions and showed a good understanding of respecting other people's individuality.
Children in Need
The children have been busy learning all about the importance of 'Children in Need' and why we raise money for this charity. To mark this occasion, the children made Pudsey Bear masks and created videos on why it is an important charity.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
