Hi and welcome back to term 3 and 4 in the school calendar. The children in Oak will be focussing upon the topic ‘Healthy Me’. At school we have a high focus on helping children achieve academically, however it is also important that we educate children how to physically and mentally stay healthy.
English
Oak in English will be working on improving writing through a whole range of media; video, animation, books, pictures and music to name a few. We are also continuing our ‘Read, Write, Spell’ in the mornings to help improve our spelling and vocabulary.
(Parents/carers look out for weekly spelling being sent home in their home school record books and the list of spellings at the back)
Maths
All years are taking a deeper look into multiplying and dividing with increasingly large numbers. We are also going to investigate how we can use this methods when problem solving.
(Parents/carers please help your child by practicing their times tables at home. It is expected that children know their times tables in Oak, this makes such a difference with their maths.)
Science
With the theme ‘Healthy Me’ we take an in-depth look at the human body, exploring all of the major systems and how we can keep them healthy.
Computing
We will become market researchers and work to see if our app designs are what the customer needs. Using software such as ‘google forms’.
R.E
We study how communities are very different all over the country. We will see how religious groups play a part in how communities work.
Physical Education
This term is slightly different. We will continue to do P.E on a Thursday but this will now rotate with Mr Pollard and Elite Sports getting the best of both worlds. Mr Pollard will be covering dance (Haka) and Elite sports will be covering gymnastics.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
