This term Chestnut are going to be doing lots of work on Rainforests. This is going to involve a trip to Woodside Wildlife Park near Lincoln to find out about some of the animals that live in the Rainforest and their habitats. We are thinking about the habitats of these animals and what they need to survive.
This term Chestnut class will be having PE on Tuesday with Mr Wilson until June, then PE will be on a Friday afternoon for Term 6. Please could girls remember to have their hair tied up and take earrings off for PE days.
This is going to be a super end to a very exciting year. Keep updated with all of our activities below.
Small Schools Week 26th June - 28th June 2017
Chestnut celebrated 140 years of Clough and Risegate Primary School for small schools week. We dressed up in Victorian outfits and learned about the Victoiran's with Jed and Jess. We found out about industry, schooling, the war and nursing in the Victorian Era. This was a very enjoyable three days and the children worked very well.
Woodside Trip 16th June 2017
Chestnut went to Woodside Wildlife Park near Lincoln to find out about animals and their habitats. The children got to meet some of the animals at the park and hold a snake and touch some lizards. They enjoyed the day and I am told that the Tiger was one of the best bits of the day she was huge! The children got a lot out of the day and did some super animal fact files when they got back to school.
Problem Solving Day 26th May 2017
The children had a challenging morning with the problem solving. They had to think about the different way of solving logic problems, such as the best way to get the hoop down the line of children. This proved to be very good for the teamwork skills and showed off the super problem solvers that Chestnut are!
Circusology 22nd May 2017
The children in Chestnut got a session with Alex from Circusology. They had a go at some circus skills like balancing, juggling and plate spinning. This was a great session with Chestnut, with all the children joining in a having a go at something different. :)
Outdoor Learning Day 18th May 2017
This year we took part in Outdoor Learning Day and the children in Chestnut got very involved with it. They went outside and tried to be maze makers, working in partners to make mazes for other children to follow. I know they really enjoyed that. Then we went outside and enjoyed our reading books in the sunshine.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
