This term sees us thinking 'All About Us' where the children will be thinking about themselves in RE. They will be considering things that make them happy and sad, about things that they enjoy and things that make them angry. In PSHE we shall be learning a little about our Health and Wellbeing, which will include some healthy cooking and what is meant by a healthy lifestyle. For Science, we shall be learning about the seasons, and about different parts of animals. The children have already created their very own bird hide in response to a discussion last week and taken part in a 'Wonderful Willow Wander' around the school grounds to see what signs of the seasons and nature could be found. The 'Wonderful Willow Wander' was inspired by the text, 'Who Lives Here?' where a young child called Sam writes a journal about his walks through the seasons and the differences he found. In Maths, we shall be focussing on Number and number facts. Some of the Year One children have already had their learning in this area extended by solving some word problems causing "Brain ache" as one child put it! However, with a little thinking, they soon achieved their goals, solving the problem well.
As always, there will be other exciting things going on, for example Spanish with Mr Moores (please see separate icon for updates) and Music with Liz. It looks like it is going to be another fun packed, busy term which we are all looking forward to .
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
