In order to support you child/ren’s learning within school, we have set small and achievable homework tasks to help them reach their potential.

Reading

Reading is a big part of life and to support them in their fluency and comprehension we ask children to read each night. This is rewarded with plenty of dojos. Please see below for the offers.

In addition to word reading, questioning your child’s understanding of the text would support them greatly in their comprehension skills as this displays that they have understood what they have read.

In Chestnut Class, two lucky children get chosen weekly to take home our reading scrapbook. This can be filled with images of their favourite reading book as well as including small parts of writing to showcase their understanding and enjoyment of the book. The scrapbook is accompanied by a bag of crafting material to support creativity. 

Spellings

This year spellings will be sent home on a Monday read for a short quiz on Friday. You will find these inside you child's/rens 'Spelling Record'. In addition to this, weekly spelling games will be set on 'Ed Shed' where the children are able to practice their set spelling focus in a fun and interactive manner. The login details for this have been glued into the front of the child's 'Spelling Record' book. 

Times Tables

The children will soon be set weekly times tables practice on Times Table Rockstars. To access this, we have included their login details inside of their 'Reading Records'.

Chesney Bear!

You may of heard that we have another member in our class....Chesney Bear! He loves an adventure and is incredibly noisy! So much so that he picks a child to go home with every weekend so that he can be included in their activities. He also likes the children to write about their adventures together to be shared with the rest of the class on a Monday.
