Reading books are not currently being sent home. However, please help your child by sharing books with them, helping them to sound letters and blend words that they are familiar with. Discussion about the story is an important part of sharing a book as well. Making simple predictions and talking about the characters together helps to build children's comprehension skills rather than decoding alone.
Each time your child shares a story with you, you can let us know on Tapestry or on Class DOJO if you are set up. Every time this is done, children are awarded DOJO points, which in turn increase their chances of being top scorers at the end of the week and winning prizes! Please ask for details on how to be added to Class DOJO.
As per the school policy, please remember that children should only be bringing in water for hydration throughout the day. This should be in a clearly named bottle. These will live at the back of the class and will be accessible during the day. We do have a water fountain in class and children have ample opportunity to use it. We always ensure that children are encouraged to drink plenty throughout the day. Water bottles are topped up for the children when needed.
We usually like to encourage the children to bring things from home to share special achievements or maybe favourite toys. Obviously this year is very different as we are limiting what is brought to and from school. However, this is an activity that is enjoyed so much by children and helps to promote their Speaking and Listening skills so we are going to take it virtual! Willow Class Show and Tell will take place on a Friday afternoon and will be done through Tapestry. If children have something special for Show and Tell, please can you add a photograph of it and add it to their Tapestry account ready for them to show and tell their friends about.
PE this term for Willow Class will be on a Tuesday afternoon led by our very own Mr Wiles. PE kits need to include joggers and jumpers as we aim to get children outside as often as possible for these sessions. Please help your child on this day by removing any earrings if they wear them. Please keep practising those tricky things like buttons too at home. It really does make all the difference. Thank you.
