This term in History we will be learning about the Great Fire of London!
After learning about the events that led to the fire we have learnt about the structures of the houses and how they caused the fire to spread so quickly. We have demonstrated our learning by creating our own houses.
We have had an excellent day at school today for our Great Fire of London day. All parents have gone to great efforts to ensure all of the children truly felt like they were from 1666 with the fantastic costumes - thank you! Throughout the day, we have learnt all about the lifestyle of those who lived in 1666. From becoming bakers to chandlers we have experienced it all through fun, hands-on activties.
Science Experiment
In Science, we are looking at materials, their properties and suitability. In today's lesson we have been busy carrying out an investigation to find out about the terms 'waterproof' and 'absorbent'. From this, we found out the definition of the terms and predicted whether certain materials would be waterproof or absorbent before carrying out the investigation.
Farm-to-Fork Cooking
Chestnut Class have been busy harvesting our leeks and potatoes today in readiness for a tasty treat! We have been busy cooking a Leek and Potatoe Soup in the kitchen and developing our culinary skills, as well as learning about centimeters as we were tasked with cutting the leeks into centimeter strips. What a tasty treat!
Farmer's Day
Today we have had a wonderful day learning all about where our food comes from. We have had some special guests in school to teach us all about how some foods are grown or reared and then processed into different products.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
