At Clough and Risegate, we use the Read, Write Inc scheme to teach children phonics and word blending all ultimately teaching them to read. Below you will find some useful links to videos from the Read, Write Inc website to help you support your children at home.
Reading is a big part of life and to support your child in their fluency and comprehension we ask children to read each night with you. Of course, it is just as important for children to hear stories read to them. Use one of the 'Reading for Pleasure' books sent home regularly or choose a favourite book from home. Please pop a comment into Reading Records so that we know how children are doing. Reading at home with your child is very important and should be enjoyable! More information about it's importance can be found below but we do have some incentives in school to help support. Children are always rewarded with plenty of Dojo points that they can save up to spend in the Dojo Shop!
In addition to word reading, questioning your child’s understanding of the text would support them greatly in their comprehension skills as this displays that they have understood what they have read.
