This autumn, Oak Class has a busy and exciting timetable! Here are some of the key areas we’ll be covering:
Maths – Daily maths lessons, problem solving, maths games and challenges to keep our skills sharp.
English – Guided reading, grammar (GPaS), writing projects including a 10-day writing plan, and plenty of opportunities to explore class texts.
History – Our main focus this term will be the Vikings.
Science – We’ll be investigating Materials, exploring their properties and how they are used.
Computing – Building skills in digital learning and online safety.
RSE & PSHE – Learning about relationships, health, and how we can look after ourselves and others.
RE – Exploring key themes and ideas in religion and beliefs.
Music – Enjoying rhythm, singing and performance.
PE – Developing fitness, skills and teamwork, as well as learning about sporting role models.
We also make time each day for quiet reading, spelling practice, and our daily mile to keep active.
Ideas for Pre-Learning at Home
If pupils would like to get a head start, here are some areas they could research or practise at home:
Find out who the Vikings were and how they travelled.
Research different properties of materials (hard, flexible, waterproof, transparent).
Explore a famous sporting role model and what makes them inspiring.
Practise times tables on TT Rockstars.
Read a range of books at home—fiction and non-fiction—and share what you discover.
