Art
After learning about the events that led to the Fire of London, we have learnt how to create different shades using paint. This is in readiness for creating our final master piece of the fire.
History
The children were posed with the question 'Why is Samuel Pepys a significant person?'. After discovering why, they used their learning to create some wonderful fact files.
I am sure you will agree the results are great and very informative!
Music
In Music lessons, we have begun to learn how to play a musical instrument - the ocarina. We have been learning how to play the different notes whilst noticing their tones. As we were so good at this, we moved on to look at reading the music and making out own. A great time had by all!
Apple Day
What an excellent day we have had! We have taken part in 'Apple Day' hosted by Kids Country Club and have learnt lots about different apples, tasted many of them and learnt about the importance of soil. We even had a go at making our own edible soil - delicious!
Guy Fawkes
We have had a very busy day learning all about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot. After doing this, we finished the day by making some fabulous edible sparklers. They were scrumptious!
Diwali
Today, Chestnut Class have been busy learning about the festival 'Diwali'. They have learnt who celebrates this and how they do so. The children all made their own lanterns and I am sure you will agree that they look fantastic.
Children In Need
Everyone came to school looking rather spotty today to raise money for 'Children in Need'. As part of our day, the children were given large Pudsey Bears to decorate with one aim - to work as a team. I was very proud of the skills showcased, both through their art and teamwork. After this, the children thought about how the money raised will support children.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
